Draughts
Can you feel air coming in around windows or external doors? While this is not so much a problem in warmer weather, during the winter draughts contribute to poor thermal efficiency, making your home colder and harder to heat.
If you regularly feel a draught around windows or front, back, patio or bifold doors, it is probably time for a replacement. Draughts can indicate a problem with seals, double glazing and frames/alignment.
Deterioration
Wooden doors and window sills can rot and attract insects. If you notice wood rot, peeling paint, splitting or warping, it is time for a replacement. To avoid such issues in the future, we recommend clients in Oxted upgrade to composite doors, uPVC windows and aluminium windows.
While more durable, these products also need replacing eventually, so be aware of age and general wear and tear.
Glazing
Double glazing will need replacing if you notice condensation or misting between the glass panes. You may also see damage to the seals. In addition, Dorwyn Ltd advises homeowners with single glazing to upgrade to double-glazed windows for superior performance and comfort.
Our company in Oxted provides double glazing as standard with all uPVC and aluminium windows as well as bifold doors.
Trouble Using Doors and Windows
Do you have difficulty opening, closing or locking doors or windows? Are any windows painted or nailed shut? As well as being annoying, this can pose a safety hazard. It can prevent quick escape in a fire and allow easier access for intruders. Issues with warping and poor fitting can also result in draughts and leaks.
If you notice any operational problems with windows and doors in Oxted, contact Dorwyn Ltd for a wide range of replacement options to suit your property, taste and budget. This includes uPVC windows in various colours and Solidor composite doors in traditional to contemporary designs.
